Store Accounts Now Available

Over the past few weeks, we officially re-launched our web store at Gensokyo.Store and have continued to work on additional features, with the latest being store accounts.

Accounts on the store are completely optional, but using an account while shopping does pretty much what you’d expect: it provides another place to find information about pending orders, order history, and can help us provide support if needed.

Accounts are available now, but if you’ve recently ordered something from the updated store, or if you ever order something as a guest but want to add it to your account’s order history, we’ll be adding a small module within the next day or two where you can enter in your order and transaction IDs, and they’ll get synced up with your account on the store website.

Looking ahead, our next big step for the store will be re-integrating with our third-party merchandise partner so that we can once again take orders for the majority of our merch such as T-shirts, hats, and mugs which have been out of stock since the re-launch. This integration is the biggest work item we have left for the store, but we’re working to get it online as soon as we can.

We’ll also be improving the browsing experience with a few things such as product tags which will allow easier browsing for things such as specific music groups and artists, consignment tags which will highlight products where sales directly impact artists and creators, and a backend system which will help us with some relatively basic things such as customized packing slips, order status tracking, and sale history for consignment partners.

We don’t want to spend too much time on the store since we have Station.moe’s development to get back to, but we also have some potential opportunities working with significantly more artists and creators in the future, so ensuring that we have a system which can support different types of users and keep everything well organized is something we feel is worth spending a little extra time doing well. The store website should hit maintenance mode soon after getting these items done, meaning we can focus more on its operation and working with more providers.

As a final reminder, if you are ordering from the store, please make sure that your shipping address is correct; you can check this during the PayPal checkout flow. If you need to contact store support, the email address can be found on the store’s About page.

That’s all for this update, thank you to everyone who has picked up stuff from the store since its re-launch, and thanks for listening!
