This week, we worked on implementing translations into our web app, plus we continued to monitor the status of our colocated server hardware. For more details, read on!
Over the past few months, we’ve been working with a handful of volunteers in an effort to add translations to our in-development web app. Now that we have at least a few languages fully translated (including French, Norwegian, and Indonesian), we’re working on the technical side of things by replacing static English terms with dynamic terms controlled by a user’s language preference. Once translations are fully implemented, we’ll be working on adding a few additional features in-app like streaming podcasts from our previous broadcasts and events, as well as improving the UI for better screen and device compatibility.
In other news, since before the new year began, we’ve been monitoring an issue at our colocation provider which has caused us to run on a backup version of our scheduler during this past week. We’ve since received word from our provider that the issue has been resolved. Unfortunately, we’ve seen a trend with this provider over the past couple years, and we’ll be working on transitioning to a new datacenter and provider in the coming weeks. Until then, our backup system will continue to drive the station.
Please be aware that our backup source is run from our local studio and is not designed to run in production for an extended period of time, so occasional drops are expected. We appreciate your understanding and patience as we transition to a new solution.
That’s all for this week, we’ll keep you posted as we transition our hardware to its new home, and thanks for listening!
